Valerie Thompson was raised in Covington, Ga. She came to Statesboro as a student in 2002 and is a 2006 graduate of Georgia Southern University with a degree in Marketing with an emphasis in Sales and Sales Management and a minor in Public Relations. Valerie has built a career in banking and finance, commercial and industrial contracting, and entrepreneurial endeavors in extensive marketing, advertising and branding for several companies. Earning her real estate license in late 2015, and her Broker's License in November 2020, she has since earned recognition as a life member of the Statesboro Board of Realtors' Distinguished Sales Society, and Coldwell Banker’s International Diamond Society since 2018. Valerie also currently serves as a Director on the Executive Board for the Statesboro Board of Realtors.

Valerie is a 2009 Leadership Bulloch Graduate, a 2014 recipient of the Statesboro Herald's Top 20 Under 40 and a 2018 graduate of the Lynda Brannen Williamson Foundation Academy. She is a longtime member of Professional Women of Statesboro, has served on several committees with the Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce, a sustaining member of the Statesboro Service League and part of the Statesboro Phi Mu Alumni Chapter. Valerie resides in Statesboro with her husband, Patrick, their two children, Charliann and Trick, and Boxer dogs, Paulson and Dingus. Together they enjoy Georgia Southern football, beach days and grilling out with friends.
